CAREER GUIDANCE TRAINING & PLACEMENT (CGTP) CELL
The Career Guidance Training and Placement (CGTP) Cell at AWH Engineering College plays a pivotal role in enhancing students' skills in collaboration with various departments. Our primary focus areas are upskilling and securing placement opportunities for our students. The Placement Cell is composed of the Principal, Vice Principal, Placement Officer, Heads of Departments, and Department staff and students coordinators. Together, we organize seminars, workshops, and training sessions aimed at developing both soft and technical skills.
The Training and Placement Cell of AWH Engineering College, Calicut, was established on July 1, 2003, with the aim of counseling, guiding, and training students for successful career development. Over the years, the cell has served as a vital link between the academic environment and the dynamic requirements of multinational corporations. Recognizing the evolving demands of the job market and the need for a more comprehensive approach to career readiness, the cell has undergone a transformative change. From 2024, it has been renamed the Career Guidance, Training, and Placement (CGTP) Cell to better reflect its broadened responsibilities.
The CGTP Cell at AWH Engineering College now operates as a pivotal hub for enhancing students' employability skills in collaboration with various academic departments. Its core focus areas are upskilling students and securing placement opportunities, while also offering robust career guidance to help students navigate their professional paths confidently.
We collaborate with finishing schools, technical communities, and industries to provide comprehensive upskilling programs. We have established Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with organizations such as ASAP, Skill Academy, SkillActz, and Infosys Springboard, offering a diverse range of courses. Additionally, each department has signed MOUs with various organizations to offer specialized skill enhancement courses in their respective core domains.
The training activities for students at AWH Engineering College commence in their first year and continue in collaboration with various esteemed organizations. From the outset, students are integrated into professional communities such as Mulearn, Skill Academy, and Infosys Springboard. On campus, we have student branch chapters of IEEE, IEDC, IIC and ICI, providing students with opportunities to organize and participate in seminars, workshops, and competitions, thereby enhancing their overall skill set.
In their third and fourth years, students receive offline training to refine their soft skills. This training focuses on communication, time management, resume writing, group discussions, and interview preparation, delivered through interactive, activity-based sessions. Furthermore, the Placement Cell actively collaborates with alumni who visit the campus to share insights on the latest industry trends and developments, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the evolving job market.
Internship opportunities are offered to students starting in their pre-final year, with placement opportunities available in their final year. These placements are facilitated through on-campus recruitment drives, off-campus placements, and job fairs. Additionally, we provide placement opportunities by collaborating with online assessment platforms such as SkillActz and Kerala Skill Express, as well as professional communities like µLearn, CAFIT, ISTE, ICI and IEEE. This multi-faceted approach ensures that our students have access to a wide array of career opportunities.
The Training & Placement Cell is a vital department at AWH Engineering College, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of our students. It aids in skill development, facilitates networking with industry professionals, and helps students secure their dream jobs. Through its dedicated efforts, the Placement Cell ensures that our graduates are well-equipped to embark on successful and fulfilling careers.
